GlycoUniverse is this year’s proud sponsor of the ICO Young Investigators award given to Dr. Nuria Martínez Sáez for her work in the field of carbohydrates. Together with Prof. Dr. David Crich, who received the Roy L. Whistler International Award in Carbohydrate Chemistry, Dr. Martínez Sáez opened the conference with a fantastic lecture entitled “Tn antigen structural insights for engineering MUC1-glycopeptides that offer a new via in cancer-fighting”. Congratulations to both of this year’s awardees!

The latest Glyconeer has been successfully installed at Saudi Arabia’s flagship research institution, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in the laboratories of Professor Charlotte Hauser at the Division of Biological & Environmental Science & Engineering. Mario Salwiczek, Head of Science at GlycoUniverse says, „We are happy and excited to further expand the circle of Glyconeer users and to have such a prestigious institution as KAUST as our customer. In particular, I am excited with Professor Hauser’s focus on nanomaterials. We have high hopes in materials science as an expanding field of application for synthetic glycans.“

GlycoUniverse has set up a Glyconeer at University of York’s Department of Chemistry. While the machine is located at the Structural Biology Laboratory in Heslington, it will serve all of Britain’s evolving glycan synthesis cluster. GU supports this development and will provide building blocks for synthesis as well as other consumables at special discounts.

The end of June 2014 marked an important milestone for GlycoUniverse - the installation of the world's very first commercial, automated oligosaccharide synthesizer. The group of Assistant Professor Jeroen Codee at Leiden Institute of Chemistry was the first to receive our automated platform.This first Glyconeer promises to be one of many as we are continuing the production of further instruments and are planning the installation of the second Glyconeer in the next couple of weeks.Check out the Glyconeer today!
